REPERCUSIONES LINGÜÍSTICAS DE LA COLONIZACIÓN DE AMÉRICA EN EL SIGLO XVI: ORIGEN Y DESTINO DE LOS PRIMEROS POBLADORES
Juan Manuel Pedroviejo Esteruelas
LINGUISTIC REPERCUSSIONS OF THE COLONIZATION OF AMERICA DURING THE 16TH CENTURY: ORIGIN AND DESTINY OF THE FIRST SETTLERS.
Summary:
The process of colonization of a whole continent as it is America was carried out by brave settlers from the Spanish mainland. They basically brought with themselves their language, uses and customs. The regional and social origin of these settlers influenced decisively on the shaping of a Koiné during the first decades of the 16th century. It was at that time when the features of the Andalusian language prevailed over the rest languages of the mainland. However, we will find out that Andalusian people were not alone in this process because inhabitants of other regions and their dialects were also present in this process of standardization of the American Spanish.
